New work group: Connect disability communities and state agencies
Please share this with people in your area from Minnesota’s disability communities that might be interested in joining this statewide group. YOUR VOICES. YOUR CHOICES. YOUR OLMSTEAD. 2018 Olmstead Community Engagement Workgroup
Minnesota’s Olmstead Plan envisions people with disabilities living, learning, working, and enjoying life in the most integrated setting of their choice. The Olmstead Community Engagement Workgroup began in 2017, working with the Olmstead Implementation Office (OIO) to provide input and recommendations to the Olmstead Subcabinet on ways to improve community engagement between disability communities and state agencies. The Olmstead Community Engagement Workgroup is now in its second year, and we are currently seeking new members from throughout the state. This year, the workgroup will create strategies and activities to implement the Olmstead Community Engagement Plan, making sure that engagement practices are person-centered, accessible, inclusive, transparent, and equitable for diverse communities. The OIO Subcabinet places a high priority on recruiting diverse representatives from within Minnesota’s disability community. People of color, American Indians, women, individuals who identify as LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer), and residents from greater Minnesota are encouraged to apply. The application period will be from March 12- April 9. Applicants will be notified of the status of their application in early April, and finalists will be notified by the last week of April. Interested applicants may apply through our online application form or by filling out an application form and returning it to the Olmstead Implementation Office:
