If you’re one of the one in three Americans with prediabetes, a program offered in the Northland can help you make healthy, long-term changes to improve your health. It’s called the National Diabetes Prevention Program, and Healthy Northland is partnering with other organizations and lifestyle coaches to offer it around the region beginning in January 2016.

Duluth

  • Mondays, beginning Jan. 25, 2:30 -3:30 p.m. at Harbor Highlands Community Center, 29 W 11th Street
  • Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 27, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Duluth Area Family YMCA, 302 W 1st Street

Cost: Free for a limited time. These classes are sponsored by the Duluth Area YMCA with support from Healthy Northland, Essentia Health, the Minnesota Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Grand Rapids

  • Mondays, beginning Jan. 18, 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Itasca County Family YMCA

Cost: $100 for YMCA members, $200 for non-members. Scholarships are available to those with financial need.
