Area Diabetes Prevention Programs achieve CDC recognition

Offering the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is quite an endeavor for community organizations and healthcare systems. It’s even harder to meet the stringent requirements set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program (DPRP).

Achieving full recognition for this evidence-based program is difficult and it is about 2 years process. Only programs with the highest outcomes for participant attendance, weight loss and recorded minutes of physical activity are awarded this high honor.

Healthy Northland would like to highlight the DPPs in our region who have met the stringent guidelines to achieve Full Recognition by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. They are:

  • Duluth Area Family YMCA
  • Essentia Health-Deer River
  • Essentia Health-International Falls
  • Fond du Lac Human Services Division
  • Itasca County Public Health
  • Riverwood Healthcare Center- Aitkin

Both program and participant success takes a lot of hard work and Healthy Northland offers its congratulations to all involved in this important program designed to reduce type 2 diabetes!
